Fall is here, and so is the wardrobe changeover. And, as it could hardly be otherwise, new trends are arriving for this 2021-2022 season to help you sell the best looks.
Collections have adapted to the new times, with plenty of outdoor living and practical street-style. Both sellers and shoppers need to know which pieces will be essential and simply can’t be missing from the wardrobe.
Keeping up with the celebrities is a huge help to make the process easier, since it takes time and dedication. That’s why we’re going to share a short guide to these new trends.
New clothing pieces for this fall:
1. KNITWEAR – WOOL
It always comes back: it’s absolutely comfortable and very easy to combine. We’ll see it in après-ski borders, cable knits, ribbing and more. The big novelty is its increase in size — worn from head to toe, extra-long, chunky, or as a two-piece with matching trousers.
2. LEOPARD
It may look like a trend from the past, but its comeback has been triumphant this fall and winter season. The formats are very varied, though your best bet is to go for a dress or a coat.
3. SHIMMERING FABRICS
The best-known brands have all agreed on reclaiming party wear. We’ve seen how, over the past year, big crowded celebrations have given way to more intimate gatherings.
It’s a way of celebrating self-expression and the intention to lift spirits. The major brands had set these pieces aside, and this past year they’ve grown by almost 70%.
4. ORANGE
A color we’ll see very often this season is orange. We’ll spot it in all kinds of street style outfits, from sweaters to trousers.
It’s one of the most viral trends. It might seem like a hard color to combine because it’s bold or exuberant, and we tend to prefer neutral colors that are easier to match. But combining it takes no effort at all.
5. CHECKS – DIAMONDS
The british accent is back, from parkas to trousers. We’ll see how it can be paired with all sorts of prints, even completely different checks.
With these trends we see how the most traditional looks keep working, and many of the big brands use the monogram as a print. Another print is the tartan check, yet another version we’ll be reaching for.
6. STATEMENT COLLAR
Last season they came into fashion, but this year they cement their place with more extravagant collars. If we look at the influencers, they show us that they’re here to stay.
This time it has gone beyond the traditional white blouse — they want to play with different prints like gingham checks or vivid colors such as pink or green.
7. TRENCH COATS
The trench coat is an essential piece in transitional seasons. It’s been a classic in recent years, though it always varies in size, color or fabric.
For this fall we’ve seen different versions, even paired with dresses. This year’s hit is prints, vivid colors or the oversize fit that will take precedence over the classics.
Built-in shoulder pads or a vest-style cut are absolutely on-trend.
8. MINI SKIRT
After several seasons where the midi skirt was going strong, the mini skirt arrives alongside shorts. The sixties style is back, a creation that revolutionized an era.
We’ll see it in different shapes — with ruffles, in a micro version, or with a low waist on the hips, and above all in black and pencil-cut, as seen on the Paris runways and at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Another trend for this winter, related to the mini skirt, is the little black dress, a timeless piece. It’s a black dress with a simple, short cut.
9. CROPPED BLAZER
It’s one of this year’s top pieces. We saw a few during this year’s spring, but this fall we’ll get to enjoy them just as much. This 2021 it has been reinvented above the waist.
Its versatility and the ease with which it completes an outfit make it a piece that has become one of the season’s standout trends. Influencers wear them with sequins, long-sleeved, short-sleeved, dressed up and dressed down.
10. HEAD SCARF
The scarf has never gone out of style — it’s a garment with multiple uses: around the neck, over the shoulders, as a belt and more. This winter we’ll be sporting it on the head, a classic.
11. SHEARLING BAG
This trend may not be a year-round investment, but shearling bags are one of the big novelties of this fall. Dior, Fendi, Tory Burch and Balmain show us some designs.
We find all kinds of different bags, and the thing about shearling is that it adapts to any shape and material. Whether combined with dark leather, camel suede or fringe, it will undoubtedly become a must-have.
12. WHITE COWBOY BOOTS
Western fashion is the one and only style of the 19th-century Old West. It’s coming on strong this 2021/22, and Zara and Mango have added it to their catalogs.
A key piece will be cowboy boots, though the dominant color will be white. The combination that’s crushing it this summer is with mini dresses and mini skirts.
